Grad Skills is offering a free course focusing on pathways into the police force for all 2018-2022 graduates.

This course aims to provide graduates with the chance to review their current skill set and learn about the opportunities within the police workforce.

The two-day course takes place on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 August 2022 at the University of Bradford.

Course Description

A two-day in-person course for graduates, focusing on Police Staff and Police Officer roles through the Degree Holder Entry Pathway. The course is a chance to learn about opportunities within the police force and review current skills with support given on how to use those skills to contribute to their chosen career goals.

What will the course cover?

The course will be led by the West Yorkshire Police Force. The course will be held in person at Bradford University and will consist of:

  • Reflection of your current skill sets and experience so far
  • Selling yourself and Confidence in your abilities
  • Policing Apprenticeships
  • PSCO and Digital Policing
  • Traits and Values
  • Police career pathways.

Is the course for me?

This course is designed for recent graduates looking to seek employment in the West Yorkshire Police Force. It is recommended that you should have basic IT skills, literacy skills and an interest in working within the Public Services sector, with a specific interest in working within the police. This is also for graduates who are looking at developing their current skill set or trying something new!

Developing your personal strengths

Throughout the course, we’ll identify, develop, and enhance the personal strengths and qualities required for working within the West Yorkshire Police. We’ll have exercises and challenges to help you develop outstanding skills and support you to find your desired role within the police.
