Accounting and finance are at the heart of all business operations. From huge service industries to micro businesses, the ability to manage, plan and account for money is the key driver of economic growth and the ultimate measure of business success.

About this course

We'll give you a grounding in the two key branches of accounting – management and financial accounting – teaching you how to prepare business accounts and critically analyse financial decisions.

We'll show you how businesses design and control their operations, exploring how economic factors affect business decisions. You'll study models for management and leadership, as well as gaining an understanding of how corporate governance works.

You'll also get a grounding in the legal context for accounting and business, looking at the areas of UK and EU law that directly affect the legal structure and operations of businesses.

Your lecturers will use their years of industry experience to bring accounting and business theories to life. Plus you'll gain professional work experience through your two professional work placements, experiencing daily life in your planned career and building your own network of connections for the future.

This degree is professionally accredited by ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants​), the world’s leading accountancy qualification, and allows graduates exemption from 1/3 of Foundation level professional examinations.

Student Finance

UK Home Students:

Tuition fees cost £9,250 a year for this course in 2021/2022.

Part-time tuition fees will be pro-rated accordingly to the number of credits you're studying. Depending on government policy, tuition fees may rise with inflation in future years.

Tuition fees for 2022/23 entry will be set in summer 2021.

Living costs, e.g. accommodation, travel, food, will also need to be taken into consideration.

Leeds Trinity offers a range of bursaries and scholarships to help support students while you study.

International Students, including EU Students:

Tuition fees cost £12,000 per year for this course starting in 2021/22.

Part-time study is not available for international students on a Student Route Visa. 

Additional costs

We advise students that there may be additional course costs in addition to annual tuition fees:

  • Recommended and required reading lists will be provided at the start of your course. All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own.
  • On some courses there may be additional costs, such as field trips, equipment, accreditations, that may be part-funded by the University. More details will be provided at the start of the course.
  • You'll need to include placement/s travel and associated costs too, however the University will contribute a standard amount towards your total expenditure.
  • The University provides students with a £6 printing credit each academic year which can be topped up either on campus or online.

You'll complete professional work placements, experiencing the types of careers that your degree could lead to. Recent students have completed placements at KPMG, Lloyds Banking Group, Citigroup, UK Tax Associates and the accounting centre of retail giant the Arcadia Group.

Career opportunities

You'll be qualified for a variety of roles in the economy including merchant banking, corporate finance, stockbroking and investment appraisal, business development and accountancy. You could also set up your own business, working as a consultant.
