Writers, scholars and academics are invited to a one-day prose poetry symposium at Leeds Trinity University in July.

The event, organised by Prose Poetry UK and funded by the Arts Council of England, will include talks, panels, an optional workshop and the official launch of The Valley Press Anthology of Prose Poetry, edited by Anne Caldwell and Oz Hardwick.

Professor Oz Hardwick, Principal Lecturer of English at Leeds Trinity University, said: "The prose poem is currently exploring a surge in popularity, with recent publications from Penguin and Palgrave Macmillan being just the most prominent demonstrations of the form's rude health. We're pleased to be welcoming keynote speakers, Cassandra Atherton and Paul Hetherington, who are currently writing an introduction to prose poetry, and to be officially launching our new anthology as part of the event."

Proposals for 20-minute presentations are being invited from scholars and practitioners as part of the symposium. The presentations can be themed - but not limited to - topics around: international currents; formal boundaries and border crossings; and influences and explorations; with more information on each topic available on theProse Poetry UK website.

Speakers interested in presenting at the symposium should submit a 150-word abstract proposal to event organiserAnne Caldwell, including name, short biography and email address. The deadline for submissions is Friday 25 February 2019.

The Prose Poetry Symposium takes place at Leeds Trinity University on Saturday 13 July 2019, 9.15am - 5.30pm. You can book your place viaEventbrite.
