Leeds Trinity University is holding a Mass for former Chaplain, Fr David Smith, as it is 25 years since he sadly passed away.

What's happening?

Fr David, born in Otley in 1936, was appointed Chaplain to Trinity and All Saints College in September 1982. At the same time, he became vocations Director for the diocese. Fr David was a very active chaplain who led support groups for staff and students as well as establishing liturgical, music, Justice and Peace and SVP (Society of Saint Vincent de Paul) groups and acted as the chairman of the Former Students Association.

Fr David left the College in July 1991 to become the Director of the National Vocations Centre in Leeds. He sadly passed away in Otley Hospital on 20 May 1995 after collapsing on a working holiday in New York in 1994.

We expect that a number of alumni will be returning who haven't been on campus for some time, so we will put on campus tours before the Mass.

In the atrium, following the Mass, there will be a chance to share memories of Fr David. These will be presented to his family following the event.

1.30 – 2.30pm Campus tours (meet in reception)

3.00 – 4.00pm Mass, Chapel

4.00 – 5.00pm Tea, coffee and nibbles in the atrium

5.00pm onwards StUdio bar open for anyone who would like to purchase drinks
