A series of curriculum-focused twilight workshops for secondary English teachers.

Primary school students working with their teacher at a desk.

What's happening?

These two-hour twilight sessions are designed to offer secondary English teachers the opportunity to reflect on the current curriculum diet offered in school, with a focus on nurturing a love of learning whilst meeting the demands of the new Ofsted framework. The sessions provide the chance to gain a broader view of the English curriculum landscape, network with fellow English enthusiasts, and refine articulations of ‘intent’, ’implementation’ and ‘impact’.

Throughout the 2019/20 year, we will be offering six two-hour CPD sessions, focused on:

  • Key Stage Three: Revitalising the English curriculum - Monday 30 September
  • Assessment: Reimagining ways of measuring progress - Monday 18 November
  • Developing readers - Monday 27 January
  • Developing writers - Monday 23 March
  • Nurturing and celebrating talk - Monday 8 June
  • Managing transitions (KS2-3, KS3-4 and KS4-5) - Monday 6 July

Session four takes focuses on Developing Writers.

This session will consider ways to sustain engagement and develop confidence in the writing process whilst fully preparing students for the demands of writing fiction and non-fiction within time constraints. There will be opportunity to discuss approaches to writing which help students to balance accuracy and rigour whilst developing their sense of an authentic voice.

When?

Monday 23 March

4.00-6.00pm

Other sessions take place throughout the year.

Cost

The sessions cost £40 each per school for up to two delegates or £200 for all six sessions.
