Reasons to study at LTU

Develop your critical thinking skills

Learn to think critically as you debate the ultimate questions about human existence, values and beliefs.

Be taught by the experts

Our lecturers are active researchers in the fields of philosophy, ethics and religion, with interests covering the role of philosophy in scientific research, Indigenous religions, and exophilosophy – exploring the philosophical questions posed by the possibility of alien life.

Meet like-minded people

Meet people from different backgrounds who share similar interests and test your developing skills in reasoning and logic when you join the student-run Philosophy, Ethics and Religion Society.

Receive focused attention

Feel supported and heard with small class sizes, excellent one-to-one support and individual tutorials.

Boost your employability

The professional work placements included as part of your degree, and the transferable skills you’ll build on the course, will help you to achieve your career ambitions.

My favourite thing about my course is that there are no right or wrong answers. The other aspect of the course that I enjoy is the Fieldwork in Religious Studies module, where we don’t just learn the theory, but also have the opportunity to visit three different places of worship and see the religions we have studied and researched. Careers+Placements has been extremely helpful in helping me improve my CV and deciding on what placement I would like to do. And when university can sometimes become stressful, the Student Support team is excellent at helping students get back on track and implementing any further support.

Think:Fest

A group of our final-year students recently had the opportunity to deliver a conference as part of their Learning through Work module aimed at inspiring local secondary school students.

Titled Think:Fest, the event featured thought-provoking discussions, academic taster sessions, expert insights, and interactive workshops, and was attended by around 150 students from 10 different local schools.

The session was an excellent achievement for all involved and a showcase of the hard work and talent of our students.

@leedstrinity A huge well done to our Level 6 Philosophy students for organising an incredible event as part of their Professional Learning Through Work module! 👏 #leedstrinityuniversity #leedstrinity #philosophy #loveLTU #Uni #Unitok #StudyTok #FYP #University ♬ Intro - Mad Dog

PEAR Society

When you enrol as a student at Leeds Trinity, you’ll have the opportunity to join several student-led clubs and societies. One in particular might be of interest – the Philosophy, Ethics and Religion Society (or PEAR Society for short).

They aim to provide a safe space where people can learn together and respectfully discuss and debate a range of philosophical topics.
