There is so much variety of content within the course – there is something for everyone and a real focus on diversifying the curriculum and finding teaching methods that work for you as an individual rather than generalising for the whole cohort. The lecturers are really personable and have lots of classroom experience – which means any question you ask they’ve probably felt/experienced the same thing and can give you an open and honest answer.

Meet a Lecturer

Meet Jo Hopton, our Deputy Head of Primary Education here at Leeds Trinity.

In this short video Jo discusses her own motivations for teaching and the importance of empowering young people throughout their education so they can go on to achieve great things in their personal and professional lives.

School-based experience

Hear from current Primary Education student Skylar about her experiences on the course to date and what it's like studying at our Main Campus in Horsforth.

Over the course of your programme, you’ll spend a minimum of 24 weeks training in a school environment, gradually taking on greater classroom responsibilities to prepare you for your teaching career.

From small rural schools to large, inner-city schools, we work with a diverse range of institutions, giving you the experience you need to hone your teaching skills and secure your dream teaching job after graduating.

You will be mentored by expert colleagues in both school and University settings throughout, helping you to gradually build your confidence as you progress from assisting in the classroom to teaching whole group sessions.

Become a Reading Ambassador

Leeds Trinity has partnered with the UK Literacy Association, offering opportunities for Primary Education students to champion the value of reading in childhood.

You can apply once you enrol on your course, and if successful, you’ll work with other ambassadors from across the country to share best practices and make book recommendations for other trainees. Not only does it raise awareness of age-appropriate texts – it’ll also look fantastic on your CV.
