Nearly all my lectures were in smaller groups and we all really got on well, which provided better room for debate and discussion within the classroom.

Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity

I chose to attend Leeds Trinity because of the excellent philosophy department. After knowing they had such quality lecturers, previously attending elite institutions, I knew the teaching would be of the highest standard. Leeds Trinity offered a close community that is demonstrated in smaller classes and a lot of face-to-face time.

Fond memories

The memories include many that I’m sure most people experience. Making new friends, joining clubs and societies and having those times to look back on are some of the most meaningful ones at university. Leeds has an amazing social atmosphere, and all universities seem to join together at some point or another.

Great placement opportunities

I had the opportunity to gain great work experience during my time at Leeds Trinity, in my first year this was a part of the course which enabled me to see a possible future career in teaching which I am now in, and the placement was all beneficial in doing so. Furthermore, I was also down to go to Romania during my second year but unfortunately, Covid came along. Long story short, there are some amazing opportunities including working and travelling abroad that the University offers and helps to sort out efficiently.

There are plenty of career paths you can explore after graduating from this course. Taking the opportunity to get some work experience is great practice but the critical thinking aspect of the course means that so many doors are open to you.

Great support and inclusivity

I really enjoyed the inclusive environment on my course. Nearly all my lectures were in smaller groups and we all really got on well, which provided better room for debate and discussion within the classroom. At Leeds Trinity, you’re really supported through the lecturers and staff, so moving from Sixth Form to university was made so much easier.

My advice for prospective students considering this course

In terms of students looking at coming to Leeds Trinity, the Philosophy, Ethics and Religion course offers a deeper understanding into what you’ve looked at so far. You will go into depth about all the interesting thoughts and questions you’ve ever had, as well as discussing philosophy that you won’t have had the chance to do so. I genuinely really enjoyed my course and left with a new perspective on life and ethical dilemmas which I hope you will too.
