You will get huge support at Leeds Trinity whatever your academic level is. You will be given the opportunity to really achieve a lot in a setting where people really want to help you.

Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity

I wanted to attend a university that offered industry experience as well as good prospects after graduating. The campus being only a few minutes from Leeds was also a big selling point. After visiting for an Applicant Day, Leeds Trinity really stood out as a lovely and small friendly university where everyone knew each other, the personal touch really stood out. It was an easy decision from then on, so I travelled from Armagh to study here. Fountains Court became my first home away from home.

What I loved about the course

I really enjoyed the practical element of the course and being able to really get stuck in – it wasn’t just about the coursework. I was able to utilise the industry standard equipment and the expertise of the lecturers, who always had time for me and my fellow students. I got to know everyone on the course and this made my experience even more comfortable. I preferred the film element of the course but doing all the media modules meant that I could experience so much more. The course made me realise and push me into what I really wanted to do, so I felt that I left with a very clear path.

Taking advantage of placement opportunities

Despite being a student during lockdown I was still able to gain valuable marketing experience in campaigns and hospitality environments through my placements. Through these I undertook projects in social media and website design.

Leaving Leeds Trinity with new skills

I was anxious and shy when I first arrived on campus but was loud when I left! My whole student experience taught me that people skills are absolutely everything. I feel that I really excelled with my media skills as well as learning how to work with others effectively. I thrived upon leading projects, especially making documentaries.

How my career has panned out since graduating

The myFuture team really helped me with my applications after I completed my studies. I initially became a Marketing Executive where I was undertaking research as well as looking after social media, campaigns and blog posts.

Then, in February 2022, I returned to Leeds Trinity as a Marketing Officer. I felt very happy and comfortable to be back on campus albeit in a very different capacity. Leeds Trinity is like a big family and I still feel very supported in the same positive environment and it is so nice to be able to work with my former tutors such as Elric Williams.

Three words I would use to describe my time at Leeds Trinity

Inspiring, fun and challenging.

My advice to others

Definitely do it! You will get huge support at Leeds Trinity whatever your academic level is. You will be given the opportunity to really achieve a lot in a setting where people really want to help you.
