Why I chose to study at Leeds Trinity

I chose Leeds Trinity because I wanted a university that wasn’t too far from home but was far enough that I could justify living in halls. I loved how friendly and warm everybody was on open day and the module breakdown was the most interesting of all the Early Childhood Studies courses I had looked at.

What I enjoyed most about the course

I love how applicable it is. When I sat in lectures, I could always see how what we were learning about could be applied in real-life scenarios of working with children. Having lecturer’s with real life experience was so valuable, it allowed us to get an understanding of many different occupations.

Living on campus and the community atmosphere

I absolutely loved living in Halls, it’s one of the best experiences I’ll ever have. Everything you could need is on campus or within easy reach, I met so many amazing friends and made some brilliant memories that I’ll never forget. At times, it can be tricky, having all of these new and different people in one place but you eventually adjust and accept it.

The biggest benefit for me was being able to wake up, have a shower and get to a lecture within 10 minutes. It’s also handy to have the lecturer’s offices on campus as if you’re stuck on a piece of work, you can walk over and most have an open-door policy.

Utilising placement opportunities

In my first year, I went to a primary school back home in Sheffield and although I enjoyed it, I wanted something more challenging so for my second-year placement, I went to an inner-city Leeds school and the experience was much more challenging and rewarding. The placements helped me to decide what I wanted for my future and provided me with valuable experience that will help me through job interviews and my professional career.
