Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity

I chose to attend Leeds Trinity as it had two placement opportunities and the course offered a good choice and variety of modules. I knew studying at Leeds Trinity would give me good career options for the future and it was a very nice community from the offset.

What I enjoyed most about the course

I thrived on the practical tasks and really enjoyed the creative freedom I could take advantage of, whilst at the same time feeling fully supported by the staff. There was such a great range of modules for me to build up a strong television portfolio. I left this course with so many new skills in editing, utilising media software and filming.

Great placement opportunities

It was great take advantage of the placement opportunities the University offers. I undertook two placements, one at St Giles Trust (Yorkshire) and one at VISCO Agency, where I was a Social Media Assistant. At VISCO I was able to create storyboards in anticipation for promotional videos, work directly with clients and present ideas on promoting their brand, investigate brand identity opportunities and I also assisted the creative team with making new brand designs.

Getting a job before graduating

I handed in my dissertation on Saturday 7 May 2022 and started full-time work the following Monday! During my final year I had worked as a freelancer at Story Film and Photography and I was delighted to be offered a full-time position after impressing them with my work. More than just a degree

Before I even left university, I was able to use industry-standard equipment and was able to manage clients effectively. I feel that this gave me such a great advantage and enabled me to secure my job before graduating.

My advice to students on the same course

Make sure you take advantage of the Media Services team and all they can offer you as well as the lecturers who are such a valuable source of information and industry experience.
