How to self-release into Clearing

If you've been offered a place at university but want to change to another institution, you'll need to self-release into Clearing by declining your place. By declining your place, you'll be able to add a Clearing choice to your UCAS Hub account.

Your step-by-step guide

Make sure you definitely want to decline the place you've been offered at your firm choice. If you decline your current firm offer by following the steps below, you will lose your place, so please ensure that you have taken the time to consider your choice.
Log into the your UCAS Hub account. Here, you'll find the 'decline my place' button on the home screen. If you're sure that you want to decline your place, click the button and you will be released into Clearing.
You'll need to select the reason your want to decline your place. If you're applying through Clearing this year, you'll want to select the 'I want to apply somewhere else' option.
Your previously held offer at your firm choice will be declined and you will be given a Clearing number. With this Clearing number, you can now call us and apply for a place at LTU.

If you have a conditional offer

If you're currently holding a conditional offer and want to be released into Clearing, then you will not be able to see the 'decline my place' button.

If you would like to decline your conditional offer and be released into Clearing, you should contact the university directly or UCAS. If you hold a conditional offer here at Leeds Trinity, please contact our Admissions team at 0330 058 4266.

Important information: Remaining at the same university but switching course

If you want to remain at the same university but switch the course you'll study, you must speak to the university you hold an offer with.

If you choose to decline your place via the UCAS Hub, you will cancel any accommodation or scholarship arrangements you already have in place.
