Since Leeds Trinity opened its doors 50 years ago as two teacher training colleges, we've maintained our reputation for excellence in the training of teachers. The Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) is just one of the teacher training options available at Leeds Trinity, as well as one of the most popular routes into teaching – here's 5 reasons you should study a PGCE at Leeds Trinity.

Continuing your education

Do you miss the development that comes with a degree? Love the feeling of learning something new? Studying a PGCE is the perfect opportunity for you to continue and hone your studies, giving you the option to specialise in a specific area or deliver a variety of subjects, and with fifteen different course areas available at Leeds Trinity, there's plenty to choose from.

Launch a new career

If you're wanting to find new challenges in the work place then a PGCE is perfect for you. Our placement focused degrees will provide you with the experience and qualifications required to teach in school, and with our fantastic employability rates of nearly 100%, you'll be opening up a whole new career path full of opportunities.

Flexibility

A PGCE is all about flexibility. Not only do you have a broad range of courses open to you depending on what you want to teach, but you also have a variety of different learning options available to you. At Leeds Trinity there are three separate routes, so whether you want to study on the Provider-led programme based at the University, or complete the majority of your training in school through School Direct or SCITT, the choice is yours.

Inspire generations

Did you have that one teacher who really made a difference to your time at school? Completing your PGCE and becoming a classroom teacher will give you the opportunity to inspire and work with future generations. Maybe you could be the one to inspire pupils to follow in your footsteps?

It's not as expensive as you might think

Worried about the costs of completing an extra qualification? You might be pleasantly surprised! The tuition fees for our 1-year PGCE are currently £9250, with tuition fee loans and maintenance funding available to students from the government.
