Meet our alumni
Our alumni have been making an impact since we opened our doors in 1966. Read more about just some of them below.
Blessing Olufemi - MI Analyst, Pure Retirement
"I developed a strong understanding of front-end development principles and tools as well as software methodologies and techniques. I left with a strong foundation to explore different avenues in technology which led me to my passion which was data analytics."
Brandon Ahmed - Cyber Security Specialist and Published Author
"I carried out my Level 4 Placement at Sky, Leeds as a Trainee Software Developer. This gave a great sense of understanding and feel for real-life situations, putting what you had learned to the test. I also picked up new skills and increased my understanding."

Specialist facilities
At our City Campus, you’ll have access to all of the following:
- Two high-spec Computer Science Labs
- A Cyber Security Lab - for all cybersecurity/networking-related modules
- An Apporto Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) – effectively providing your own Virtual Machine (VM) at home, on the move, or in the labs.
Each workstation in our labs has a 27” UHD/4K monitor, and the latest Optiplex Plus 7020 (RAM: 16 GB DDR5, Processor: i5 14600 vPro) desktop computer. Ideal for scrutinising lines of code, configuring network devices via console, or colour coordinating a new app.
Industry visits and collaboration
We pride ourselves on preparing our students for their future careers by giving them the experiences and confidence they need to succeed in a changing world. Throughout the year, our Computing students take part in a wide range of activities designed to build their professional skills and broaden their understanding of industry expectations.
Accenture Workshop
Our students recently enjoyed an interactive session with Accenture, exploring what effective teamwork looks like in a modern tech environment. They learned how diverse roles—such as web development, mobile apps, backend engineering and SQL—come together to deliver high‑quality products and services. The event also offered valuable guidance on entering the job market and discovering opportunities within Accenture.
MongoDB session
This year we were delighted to welcome Luce Carter from MongoDB for an engaging, practical workshop on CRUD operations. This hands-on experience gave our students a real insight into core database concepts and modern development practices.
Hackathons
Legal technology is a growing field, and events such as Hackathons allow our students to network, hear from industry experts, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
Back in October we welcomed Hippo Digital to our Leeds City Campus for a Sustainability Hackathon. The day explored key graduate attributes and skills which are transferable to the workplace, including effective communication, professionalism and entrepreneurship.
Hackathons
Our students used sustainability as a starting point to practice deploying innovation, starting with problem identification through to ideation, before selecting a solution.
Sustainability challenges included:
-
Supporting the Biodiversity of Leeds Trinity Campus
-
Promoting the sustainable use and responsible disposal of technology
-
Sustainable travel options
Senior Lecturer in Computer Science Antesar Shabut said, “This was a really good experience for students to see how ideation works in practice. Having the opportunity to collaborate with employer partners and invited guests is invaluable.”
Previous Hackathons have included a collaboration between the School of Computing and Creative Industries and the School of Business and Law. Our students worked together to share ideas, deliver pitches and tackle real-world problems at the LegalTech in Leeds Hackathon, developing technology-based solutions to legal challenges before presenting to a panel of judges.
