A space for learning through photography; to see differently, think deeply and create with intent

Welcome

The Brownberrie Gallery at Leeds Trinity University is a vibrant exhibition space dedicated to photography with purpose—work that informs, challenges, and inspires. Through an engaging programme of in-house and external exhibitions, alongside student degree shows, it brings together emerging and established voices in contemporary photography. At its heart is a simple belief: photography needs to be seen. Here, images move beyond the camera into a shared public space where they can connect, spark conversation, and inspire change.

Why it matters

The gallery plays a vital role in the development of our photography students, offering a supportive yet professional environment in which their work can be exhibited, shared and explored. It’s a place for our students to develop their voices, build confidence, and gain real-world experience. From preparing work for display to engaging with public audiences, students develop the practical skills, critical insight, and creative confidence needed for a career in photography and the wider creative industries.

Photography: UNVEILED

'Unveiled', a photography exhibition created and curated by our Level 6 Photography students.

The exhibition explores emotional honesty and expressive depth, looking introspectively and creating connections between the photographer and the viewer. Find out more about our Level 6 Undergraduate Photography exhibition from our Photography Technical Demonstrator, Adam Mitchinson.

Opportunities and collaboration

Alongside student work, the gallery welcomes external practitioners, creating an open and inspiring dialogue between new and established voices. With plans to expand exhibitions, partnerships, and collaborations, the gallery continues to grow as both an ambitious public space and a dynamic environment for learning.
