PsychFest, a week-long programme of events connecting students with employers and career pathways in psychology, is back for a third year at Leeds Trinity University.

Formerly known as Psychology Week, PsychFest returns at the University’s Horsforth Campus between Monday 19 and Friday 23 October, with a stronger focus on employability, active skills development, and industry engagement.

Based around four themes – Explore, Develop, Lead, and Succeed – the programme will feature keynote talks, panel discussions, practical workshops, and a careers fair, ensuring students have the opportunity to explore a range of options for the future, as well as develop practical skills, such as public speaking and networking.

Professor Tony Blockley, Head of School of Social Sciences said: “At Leeds Trinity University, we place a strong emphasis on applied learning, making sure our students can see themselves succeed in their chosen professions. PsychFest will allow students to not only learn from established professionals, but share their own knowledge and experiences, which will improve their confidence and help them prepare for their future careers. I look forward to what will be an engaging and exciting week for everyone involved.”

Sessions will be led by external practitioners and employers in psychology and related fields, alongside Leeds Trinity lecturers and alumni, as well as the Careers+Placements service. The line-up includes keynotes from Dr Lydia Gunning, Care Programme Manager at Born in Bradford; Dr Bruce Rainford, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Leeds Trinity University; Dr Ibreeze Ahmed, Clinical Psychologist at Mid Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust; Frances Chappelow, Service Manager at Bradford District and Craven Mind, and Leeds Trinity alumna; Shairb Mohammed, Job Coach at Lighthouse Futures Trust, who will be joined by Psychology students Declan Jones and Hannah Ahmed; and Emma Stirk, a qualified Positive Psychology coach.

Tim Feather, Graduate Outcomes and External Engagement Manager at Leeds Trinity University said: “We are looking forward to seeing our students make the most of PsychFest and come away with learnings they will apply to their studies and future careers. The Psychology team worked with Careers+Placements to design a programme that will help students understand how their academic studies translate into professional practice, learn from those working in the field, and identify opportunities to build their employability through work experience, collaboration, and professional development.”

Leeds Trinity University has been named University of the Year for Student Experience by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, recognising its reputation for teaching excellence and outstanding student support.
