Dr Jess Guth, Head of School of Business and Law at Leeds Trinity University, has been appointed to the Executive of the Committee of Heads of University Law Schools (CHULS), a leading society of senior leaders representing higher education institutions across the country.

CHULS brings together Heads of Law to discuss issues of relevance in relation to the management of legal education and research. The role will position Dr Guth at the heart of conversations shaping policy and practice in the legal sector, ensuring the needs and interests of law academics, students and researchers are represented.

A sector leader in legal education, Dr Guth has extensive expertise in pedagogy and education reform, as well as 20 years of experience working in various influential roles across learned societies in Law, including the Association of Law Teachers, the Society of Legal Scholars, and the Socio-Legal Studies Association.

Dr Guth said: “I am delighted to be joining the Executive of CHULS, a society I owe a lot to, which has been a great source of support and advice over the years. Joining the Executive gives me a chance to work with a group who makes real impact across legal education, while ensuring small institutions like Leeds Trinity University are represented in a national forum of sector leaders.

“I am particularly excited to bring my learning and teaching expertise to the table, to ensure that legal education remains fit for a variety of purposes. It is important we continue to make progress in widening access to and participation in legal learning, and strive to make law schools inclusive spaces where we and our students can all thrive.”

Leeds Trinity University is ranked in the top 20 in the UK for Law, offering a range of career-led programmes, teaching excellence, work-based learning opportunities, and cutting-edge research. Find out more about the School of Business and Law.
