2025 Television Production graduates Harry Tombling, Fraser Whur, Talia Frankland, and Jacob Hemingway received the prize for the technical and creative ability on display in their documentary Vinyl is King, which explores the revival of vinyl and how people enjoy and celebrate it in the present day – from record store owners, to DJs, and music lovers.

The documentary was also nominated in the Factual – short form category at the annual awards, hosted at Leeds Trinity’s Main Campus in Horsforth on Wednesday 18 March.

Harry Tombling, who collected the award on behalf of the team alongside fellow recipient Jacob Hemingway, said: “It is a privilege to have won a Royal Television Society Craft Award for Camerawork, and a real surprise given the quality of the competition. There were so many great pieces nominated, so winning such a recognised award feels very rewarding and motivating to keep creating great content.”

Harry also praised staff at Leeds Trinity for the guidance they provided during his studies. “Winning this award wouldn’t have been possible without the staff at Leeds Trinity University,” he said. “Their hard work and dedication to get the best out of us couldn’t have been matched, so I’d like to thank everyone who supported me, and the rest of the team, throughout our time on the course.”

Lindsay Eastwood, Senior University Teacher in Television Production at Leeds Trinity University said: “We couldn’t be prouder to see Harry, Fraser, Talia, and Jacob’s hard work and talent recognised. Throughout their time at Leeds Trinity, they have shown passion and dedication to learning and developing their skills and have produced numerous high-quality pieces of work.

“This award is a testament to our commitment to preparing our students to produce industry-ready films and inspire in them a high standard of work that they can take with them into their careers. It has been a delight to be part of their learning journey and see them grow into industry-ready professionals.”
