The University is hosting a night of comedy in conjunction with the Leeds Trinity Students’ Union to thank staff and students for their efforts in Semester Two, as part of #LTUnity.

The special event, to be beamed live at 7.00pm on Friday 26 March, will feature four comedians who have all appeared on topical satirical panel show Mock The Week: Ria Lina, Catherine Bohart, Michael Odewale and Paul McCaffrey

Designed to give staff and students the opportunity to mark the end of Semester Two together, and thank them for their efforts, the comedy night is the latest instalment in the University’s #LTUnity initiative – a programme of safe social activities, including virtual quizzes, challenges and wellbeing sessions.

Ruth Wilson, Director of Student Support and Engagement at Leeds Trinity University, said: “As we come to the end of Semester Two, we are really pleased to be putting on an exclusive evening with the Comedy Store for Leeds Trinity staff and students.

“Leeds Trinity is a community and that’s clearer than ever as we continue to respond to the pandemic. It’s great to open #LTUnity up to staff as well as students to help everyone stay connected, and our comedy night feels like a fantastic way to mark the end of this semester.

“After a challenging few weeks and months, this is a chance to take a moment to laugh and relax together, whether that’s as teams, cohorts, clubs or flatmates. We’ve all achieved a huge amount and we know it’s been tough – so this is just a small way of saying thank you and celebrating everyone’s hard work.”

Chris Dow, Vice President of Leeds Trinity Students’ Union, said: “We are really excited to share our final #LTUnity event of Semester Two – a brilliant night of comedy, beamed live from the Comedy Store in London, just for Leeds Trinity students and staff.

“Nobody could have predicted how different this year would be for everyone. #LTUnity is just one of the ways we’ve worked to bring our students a memorable time here at Leeds Trinity, and it’s been great to work collaboratively on this with lots of other teams and the University.

“Everyone at Leeds Trinity is welcome to join us, staff and students, and we’re encouraging all our societies, clubs and teams to come together and get involved. There will be plenty of laughs, and hopefully time for celebration, so it’s definitely not to be missed!”

#LTUnity is part of a programme of activities the University has developed to support staff and students during the pandemic. Measures for students include converting vital student services online through the myLTU app, extended student support hours, a COVID Hardship Fund and an academic Safety Net Policy. The Trinity Wellbeing community was also established in March 2020 as an online space for staff to connect, share stories and access wellbeing support and resources.

University staff and students will receive further information about the comedy night, and can now register with their Leeds Trinity email address online here
