Leeds Trinity University hosts Sports Science Summit in partnership with Australian Catholic University

A Sports Science Summit bringing together world leaders in high performance sport and athlete management is set to take place at Leeds Trinity University on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 May.

Following the success of the inaugural summit in 2018, Leeds Trinity is preparing to host the two-day event in partnership with the Australian Catholic University, welcoming leading academics from the UK, Europe and Australia to present their latest research.

Practitioners, academics and students of sports science, high performance and athlete management are encouraged to attend and will benefit from presentations, exhibitions and networking opportunities across the two-day event.

The summit will include presentations from Olympic coach and performance scientist Dr Scott Gardner, elite performance consultant Grant Downie OBE, Head of Rehabilitation at Everton Football Club Matt Taberner and former Head of Performance Nutrition at Tottenham Hotspur FC Dr Sophie Killer.

Academics from Leeds Trinity University, Leeds Beckett University, University of Salford, Australian Catholic University and Dr Inigo Mujika from University of the Basque Country will also be presenting their latest research and participating in Q&A sessions.

Mark Russell, Professor in Performance Nutrition and Applied Exercise Physiology at Leeds Trinity University said: "We are excited to welcome speakers, delegates and exhibitors to Leeds Trinity University for the second Sports Science Summit (held in partnership with Australian Catholic University).

"The event will provide an opportunity to connect with world-renowned practitioners and researchers delivering talks and communicating the highest quality of information related to high-performance sport. The athlete special guest Q+A sessions also provide an insight into the real-world use of such knowledge in pursuit of athletic success."

Former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrows and GB racewalker Tom Bosworth will take part in athlete Q&A sessions as part of the event.

Tickets for the event can be purchasedhere, with students and alumni of Leeds Trinity University benefiting from a reduced rate.
