Introduction to PR for New Businesses

Discover what is PR and how it is distinct from other types of marketing. Learn how to create a big impact from a small investment of time and effort. Identify angles about your business that make good stories and discover how to grab the attention of journalists, influencers and endorsers.

Expect to leave this workshop with:

  • a draft press release plan for your business
  • how to identify media and contacts to generate publicity for your business
  • increased confidence and ability to positively promote your business

 When?

Thursday 8 October, 12.00noon registration, 12.30pm start.

Where?

This session will be delivered remotely through Microsoft Teams. Once your eligibility has been confirmed we will send you a link to join the session.

How to book

Please register for a place if you are a business under three years old with a desire to grow and employ people. Ad:Venture is focused on supporting new and high-growth businesses. If you are eligible you will be asked to complete a Company Record form before you attend. If you are eligible for these workshops we will contact you to confirm your attendance.

About Amy

Amy Lund launched her career in New York at Seventeen magazine and has worked for a variety of magazines including ELLE in Sydney and Glamour in London. She was the editor of Excelle magazine and has worked in PR and events, representing clients including; The Sanctuary Spa, ghd styling irons and hair beauty range, The Body Shop, Butterkist Popcorn, Greenflag and TK Maxx.

Amy studied Journalism, Film and Broadcasting at Cardiff University and won a scholarship to complete her BA honours degree at Missouri University in America, which boasts the oldest school of journalism in the world.  She attained a PGCE from Huddersfield University and MA in Journalism from Leeds Trinity University (LTU).  In 2009 Amy joined LTU as a Senior Lecturer in Journalism and PR and is the Postgraduate Journalism Course Leader.  She is currently researching Work-based Learning (WBL) in Journalism, PR and Communications for her PhD at LTU and the University of Leeds. She offers expertise and consultancy on journalism, feature writing, online content, PR, promotions and WBL.
