What degree had you originally applied for and where?

When applying for university I did have Leeds Trinity as an option, but I chose to go to another university to do Sports Science.

Why did you choose to go into Clearing?

After two weeks at the other university, I felt that it wasn’t the place for me as I just didn’t feel comfortable there.

I also decided that the course didn't suit me either.

What factors made you finally choose your course?

The course I chose at Trinity incorporated a larger nutrition element which was appealing to me.

It also put students through a gym instructor, personal training and exercise referral qualification.

I also knew people already studying at Leeds Trinity which gave me some familiarity.

Did you do any preparation or research before your results day?

I took a year out after sixth form as I was still unsure what I wanted to do, so I never did any research into university until around a year later.

It was then I realised I wanted to pursue a qualification in a sport and nutrition-based subject.

I also knew I wanted to stay in the Leeds area to continue with my job part-time.

How was your Clearing experience? Was the process clear? Did you understand what you needed to do?

My clearing experience was so simple and easy.

I remember coming into Leeds Trinity stressed, trying to sort the clearing process out and not knowing where to start.

The staff that I saw were friendly, approachable and extremely helpful.

They guided me through the whole process and made me feel at ease.

I was surprised at how smoothly the process went and once I had changed universities, they also helped me change the institution on my student finance.

Did you find a place to live easily?

I have lived at home throughout my studies, as I don’t live far away from campus.

Although I sometimes wish I had lived in halls to fully experience university life.

Despite this whenever I'm on campus I still feel part of the student community.

How has your time at university been? Have you enjoyed your course?

I feel as though I’ve learned a lot and developed as a person.

The course I have studied is something I am passionate about and I have enjoyed building my knowledge on the subject.

What would be your top tip for students in the lead-up to their results day?

I would probably just say to try not to stress about things you don't have control over as long as you've given your best shot.

As cringe as it may sound, I like the quote: "You cannot control the outcome, but you can control your effort."

Also, I would say to pursue things you have a genuine interest in, as enjoyment in your subject will make uni a better experience.

Finally, I would tell them not to stress about the future and be more present.
