How the myFuture team helped me to secure my graduate role

Robert Ives Graduation July 2019 .

I attended the taster day at Watershed Packaging as I was struggling regarding which graduate scheme to go for. I went to the myFuture team and they informed me of a great opportunity where I could gain vast experience in the way a business functions (at Watershed Packaging). The taster day was a great way to learn about the business before committing to a massive career decision.

I found the experience of having a taster day before starting the job a great ice breaker and insight into the business. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the taster day, getting to know the team, finding out answers to my questions first hand with relevant employees at Watershed; it was certainly a positive indicator.

The interview process involved a formal interview, including a range of your typical interview questions, with the process also incorporating the task of a presentation. This presentation was based on my strengths and what I believed I could bring to Watershed to improve their performance. The myFuture team were fantastic. They spent time with me to help with planning of the presentation – to ensure that I covered every angle and set myself up with the best chance of landing the job.

I am thoroughly enjoying my time here at Watershed. The variety of the role and the aspect of learning through spending time in the different departments within the business has been a really positive factor for me. It really has been a great insight into how a business is run and has opened my eyes up to the prospect of a career that I had never previously considered.

Robert Ives graduated from Leeds Trinity University with a first-class degree in Business and Management in July 2019. With the help of the myFuture team, he landed his role on the graduate scheme at Watershed Packaging. The graduate scheme is sales-focused, offering extensive training and progression into other departments and was co-designed by the myFuture team scheme exclusively for Leeds Trinity graduates.

The myFuture team is available to assist students during their degree and for three years after graduation. If you have any questions on how the myFuture team can support you after you graduate, please get in touch at myfuture@leedstrinity.ac.uk.
