With the skills, expertise and experience you’ll gain from studying for a degree in business, you’ll be prepared to build a successful career – from accountancy and auditing to marketing, management and law or running your own company.
Our academics have extensive industry experience and contacts in businesses and networks across the sector. This ensures that our programmes remain current and address the needs and requirements of employers.
Having professional experience is crucial to standing out in a competitive job market, which is why all our undergraduate degrees include professional work placements.
These opportunities help you gain relevant experience, as well as the chance to make valuable employer contacts.
We’ll also provide you with the personal support you need to develop the confidence and skills to interact with business issues and develop practical, effective solutions; putting everything you learn into practice and laying the foundations for a successful career.
Depending on your course, you can also add to your university experience and enhance your CV by taking the opportunity to study, work or volunteer overseas.
Many of our undergraduate degrees can be studied as a four-year course, beginning with the associated Foundation Year.
Placement opportunities
Students on our Business courses have completed placements with large financial organisations such as KPMG and Citigroup and worked in the finance teams at national retailers such as Morrisons and Arcadia Group.
Some have developed their enterprise, marketing and management skills and gained relevant practical experience working with local councils, arts organisations and charities or have grown their own business with support from our Business and Enterprise experts.
Graduate opportunities
Our Business graduates go on to successful careers in a wide variety of professions, set up their own business, work as consultants or continue their academic studies with a postgraduate degree.
You’ll find our graduates working in commercial and retail banking, corporate finance, stockbroking and investments, business development, auditing and accountancy, management roles in UK and international businesses and supply chain management, as well as in marketing and teaching.
Supporting new business development
If you have entrepreneurial ambitions, then we can help make your business idea a reality. Many of our graduates have set up and run their own successful company.
As part of your studies, you’ll take part in our Business Assessment Centre day where you can work with employers to develop and present your business pitch. The day includes innovative teaching methods and gives you the chance to work on live briefs in real time.
Our staff can provide expert advice on starting a business and self-employment, how to fund your start-up and assist with developing your initial idea. We also run workshops on every element of business development, including financial management, legal issues and marketing.
You’ll have the chance to work with experienced business consultants and entrepreneurs who can share their knowledge of what it takes to make your business a success. There are also plenty of opportunities to network with local businesses and get advice from experienced business and enterprise mentors.
Accreditations
We offer Business degrees accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), so you can start your journey to becoming professionally qualified.
