Professional work placements

Leeds Trinity University > Professional work placements

Leeds Trinity University was one of the first universities to pioneer compulsory professional work placements with every degree course.

As a result, our graduates are some of the most employable in Yorkshire and beyond. We work in partnership with several thousand employers annually, across all sectors, offering high-quality professional work placements to our students. These include Sky News, the BBC and ASDA as well as hundreds of other organisations and businesses.

What you can expect

Leeds Trinity understands the importance of developing your skills and applying your knowledge to become an employable graduate. Our placements will give you three months of degree relevant experience for your CV, valuable employer references, connections with potential employers and a real understanding of the skills required by employers for graduate jobs.

95% of our graduates are employed or undertaking further study within six months of graduating (HESA, 2015 Destination of Leavers survey).

The benefits

  • Practical experience
  • Skills to succeed in competitive work environments
  • Develop communication, planning, team working and problem solving
  • Around 60% of our placements lead to further part-time work, volunteering opportunities, graduate internships or graduate freelance and full-time jobs.
Volunteering can also be an accredited module towards your degree as an alternative to a professional placement on some courses. Volunteering work could include supporting adults, mentoring school children and delivering sports sessions.

Overseas placements

At Leeds Trinity, there is also the opportunity to complete volunteering or professional work abroad. We can help you apply for financial support from available grants, with recent students completing work in Australia, South Africa and Thailand.
