Welcome to the Leeds Centre for Victorian Studies

The Leeds Centre for Victorian Studies was established in 1994
and has become established as one of the most active of the
country's Victorian Studies centres.

The Centre runs:

-  a public seminar programme with speakers from all over the country and our own staff and postgraduates

-  a regular series of one-day colloquia, associated with the Leeds Working Papers in Victorian Studies

-  annual public lectures by our distinguished visiting professors.

In early 2012 we are hosting a post-graduate conference (on Victorian Memory) and a colloquium (on Victorian Spiritualities).

It is also the base of a very successful M.A. in Victorian Studies - which offers modules on literary, cultural and social history and art historical topics - and has a growing M.Phil/PhD programme.

It is also the home of the Journal of Victorian Culture, now being published three times a year by the Centre in association with our new publisher, Taylor & Francis.

We are developing links with other Victorian Studies Centres across the country, and hold an annual seminar with colleagues studying Britannic culture at Cergy-Pontoise University in Paris.  We are also working on collaborations with local museums and art galleries.
