Children, Young People and Families

Children, Young People and Families Overview

Develop the skills and experience to improve the lives of children, young people and families at our Institute of Childhood and Education.

Our undergraduate degrees offer you the chance to specialise in a variety of routes; including family support, education and early childhood. Whichever you choose, you will be part of an academic community which has developed an outstanding reputation in the fields of early years, education and family support.

The department of Children, Young People and Families is home to a group of academics who are active researchers with extensive professional experience. They’ll ensure you develop a practical understanding grounded in theory, while engaging with you in topical and controversial debates. Learning in small groups, you’ll receive the personal student support you need to flourish and identify your strengths and passions.

As one of only a few UK universities to include professional work placements with every degree, you’ll have the opportunity to apply that knowledge in a variety of child and family settings during your professional work placements – gaining relevant industry experience and contacts that will help you stand out from other graduates.

“Leeds Trinity supported me to turn a subject I was good at into one I am passionate about. I studied here at undergraduate and postgraduate level and am delighted to be back again – as a lecturer.”
