Course length: One week, Monday – Friday 9:30am – 4pm. Broken Down into 9:30am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm.  

Course description: The course is a week intensive training course focusing on employability. The course covers Skills Audits, Application Support, Digital Literacy skills and competencies. Business Basics, jargon busting, social media and PR skills. Selling yourself and your own talents and skills, Continuous Professional Development and goal setting. Resilience, fundamentals of working from home, GDPR and IT Security skills.

Progression routes: This course in full can help you identify relevant Graduate high skilled roles which meet your aspirations.  You will have the opportunity to undertake training, hear from local employers and apply for jobs and learn more about what makes a good application.

Graduates can gain skills suitable from a range of sectors from working in Education to the Digital sector. It is hoped that individuals will graduate and move into high skilled jobs within their degree subject and area. However, it is known that many graduates move to other sectors and areas of interest post-graduation.

What does the course cover?

The full course covers all basic elements of web design and development including:

  • Skills Audit
  • Continuous Professional Development and Goal Setting
  • Resilience
  • Digital Literacy
  • WFH and Employment Digital Skills

You will be taught by a range of people from Employability experts, Industry Professionals, Recruitment Staff and Specialist within Business and Industry. The learning will take place online through MS Teams and will involve:

  • Online Classroom sessions
  • Practical exercises that can be completed at home 
  • Preparation for applying for jobs, both application and interviews.

Is the course for me?​

This course is designed for 2020 graduates looking to upskill or seek employment in the Leeds City Region. We welcome applications from those with a desire to find employment and upskill in work-based skills and competencies or would like to expand their skill set into new areas. It is recommended you are confident in basic IT skills, including web browsing, and creating documents. The course  will run through Microsoft Teams and therefore some familiarity with Teams and  Microsoft Office  is advantageous.

It will appeal to people with:

  • Interest in self development
  • A desire to learn

  • Desire to upskill and seek skilled employment.

Throughout the course, we’ll identify, develop and enhance the personal strengths and qualities required for jobs.

We’ll have exercises and challenges to help you develop outstanding skills in support you to find skilled employment as well as being able to document your own personal learning journeys and employability skill sets.​
