Delve into the science behind human thought and behaviour by studying Psychology.
We offer several pathways in Psychology giving you the chance to gain a broad understanding of Psychology or to specialise in a specific area, such as Counselling, Child Development, Sport or Forensic Psychology. Alternatively, we offer degrees which give you an insight into the study of Psychology alongside Criminology or Sociology.
All our BSc (Hons) Psychology programmes are accredited by the British Psychological Society.
You’ll learn from active researchers with extensive applied experience, who will work with you to develop your knowledge and research skills. You’ll also gain practical experience in our psychology facilities, including dedicated psychology laboratories and observation rooms.
All our courses include professional work placements, so you’ll gain invaluable experience while you study. Our established links with schools, prisons, mental health organisations and the NHS, as well as charities such as Samaritans and Alzheimer’s Society, mean there are a wide range of placement options available.
We also offer plenty of opportunities to add value to your university experience and enhance your CV. Depending on the degree you choose, you can study, work or volunteer overseas.

Placement opportunities
Our Psychology students undertake placements in a wide variety of roles and organisations across the sector, enabling you to gain relevant experience to support your chosen career.
Recent placements have included working in health and care services, supporting children and young people in schools or community settings, as trainers with sports organisations such as Leeds Rhinos and Badminton England and working alongside psychologists in prisons, secure units and drug services.
Graduate opportunities
Our degrees can prepare you for a range of psychology-based careers within the NHS, private practice, charities and education or for postgraduate study in any area of psychology. Psychology graduates work in a wide variety of different fields including clinical or occupational psychology, marketing, teaching, research, human resources and healthcare.
Specialist laboratory space and software
You’ll learn in our dedicated psychology laboratories and observation rooms, equipped with video recording facilities and other specialist equipment. You’ll also be able to access the specialist software you’ll need for your course, such as SPSS (statistical data analysis software).
