News Experience:

During Post Graduate study, I have worked for four weeks in a real radio newsroom. The three minute news bulletin was broadcast on the hour every hour from 8am until 6pm, on Bradford Community Broadcasting (106.6FM). During this time, I was the editor for the news team, a journalist and a newsreader. The experience was amazing, and I am eager to get into the industry for real.

Although this was a radio newsroom, we were multi-platformed, and produced film and stills as well as extra atories and full length interviews. As in any working newsroom, online is integral, and with working on radio, video and the net all at once, I have learnt a great skill.

Recently, I had a shaddowing day at ITV's Callendar studios. I entered morning conference with ideas, and working them to the final product in the 6 o'clock news programme. Here I

During university I was elcted to produce, edit and design the monthly student newspaper. In this position I liased with industry, university executives and the student body. I took a year out for my studies to do this, as it was so important to me.

I particularly enjoyed gathering news and opinion form students, and giving them a platform to express these.

Skills:

During my Post Graduate study, I have met many people, including the editors of BCB radio Leeds, Callendar, and names like Henry Winkler. This experience has shown I can talk to anyone, and be very personable.

I am good at relating to people, as a Sabbatical Officer at my university, a main role was to tyalk to evry part of the student body, and then to Vice Chancellors and the like. I found I coule effectively work with everyone. Also, in work within bars and restraunts, I had to exercise such skills with customers and in training staff.

Special Interests:

I am very interested in sports news, primarily rugby, darts and cheerleading. I was captain of my university's first cheerleading squad. It's a new and upcoming sport in England, similar to American Football, and I would love to have the opportunity to work on news from such a new and relatively untouched sector in sport. It also means I am difficult to embarrass and would take on any challenge.

I am also interested in news for children, and providing a medium for audiences that are somewhat under represented.

Additional Information:
As a forward thinking and highly motivated trainee journalist I am eager to get into any part of broadcasting.
