I have had significant experience in television, radio and newspapers. Most recently I have completed a month on air with Bradford Community Broadcasting as part of my diploma. This involved taking on the roles of editor, newsreader and reporter and compiling content for hourly live radio news bulletins. A personal highlight was interviewing a cast member of musical Avenue Q for a radio package. As our coverage was multi-platform I generated written, audio and video content for our website and maintained the news team's presence on Twitter. In May 2011 I also worked as a freelance reporter for The Pulse, covering the local elections in Calderdale, where I interviewed councillors and turned round audio cuts for bulletins against a tight deadline. Earlier this year I also beat off stiff competition to be offered a month-long placement at BBC Radio 4's consumer affairs programme "You and Yours", which I will take up in November 2011. I have previously worked at BBC Manchester on network current affairs programme "Here and Now" and at BBC Radio Lancashire. During my time at university I was head of news at the student radio station, Bailrigg FM. I spent a year on placement at evening paper the Halifax Courier and the weekly Brighouse Echo. During that time I assisted in reporting on the 2001 general election.
