Council make moves to protect Leeds' lapdancers

Late night clubs will be expected to comply with the council’s crackdown by putting the packs in the dancers’ dressing rooms.

The policy to protect workers in strip clubs, sex shops and sex cinemas has been introduced, as concerns have recently grown about the city’s ‘seedy’ reputation after dark.

Staff wellbeing, advertising, and the external appearance of buildings are among the issues being tackled by the licensing policy.

It also says that private booths and VIP areas used for dances must be supervised, not have closed doors or curtains and be monitored by CCTV.

The policy will be phased in from October 2011.
