Hotel chain cracks down on snoring

A number of Crowne Plaze hotel branches, including Leeds, has introduced a new and unique way of helping all of its guests to sleep more soundly.

'Snore patrols' have been implemented in order to combat noisy sleepers.

The Leeds branch, on Wellington Street, has introduced a designated quiet zone, where the snore monitors patrol the corridors at regular intervals.

Guests who snore too loudly will get a knock on the door from the monitor, who will be listening out for offensive noises.

Laura Simpson, snore monitor for the Leeds Crowne Plaza hotel, said: "The purpose of it is just to make sure there's no noise coming from the rooms that could disturb other guests in the night.

"The corridors are patrolled twice in the evening and then obviously if we receive any complaints by phone or if anybody comes down to reception, then an extra patrol would be conducted."

With all the media attention, Ms Simpson admitted it's been 'quite surreal' but was enjoying it while it lasts.
