National Scholarship Programme
Leeds Trinity University College will offer 31 National Scholarship Awards of £6000 spread over three years for students starting in the 2012/13 academic year.
The Award
Year 1 - £3000 tuition fee waiver and £1000 cash
Year 2 - £1000 Leeds Trinity card
Year 3 - £1000 Leeds Trinity card
A Leeds Trinity card can be used on campus for accommodation, in catering facilities, the learning centre and the sports centre.
Part time student and EU students are only eligible for the tuition fee waiver element of the award.
These scholarships are jointly funded by the government and Leeds Trinity and are being introduced to help people from low income backgrounds who want to go to University in 2012. The government has set national eligibility criteria based on household income. Each University has designed its own scholarship scheme, so meeting the national eligibility criteria does not always mean you are entitled to a scholarship.
The Student
To be eligible for the National Scholarship Programme award from Leeds Trinity you must meet the criteria below:
1. Be a permanent resident in England and assessed as a ‘home’ student OR and be an 'EU student' (not from Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales)
2. Starting an undergraduate honours course for the first time in the 2012/13 academic year
3. Applied for an eligible course by the UCAS deadline of 15th January 2012
4. Accepted Leeds Trinity as my firm choice institution / place
Applications will then be considered in the following order:
1. You have £0 household income (as assessed by Student Finance England for full-time English domiciled students or as evidenced to Leeds Trinity for part-time and EU students) and meet one of the following criteria:
a. Are (or have been) a cared-for person;
b. A carer (a person whose life is significantly affected by caring for a family member who has a physical illness or disability, mental health difficulties, sensory or learning disability or has a problematic use of drugs or alcohol).
These applications will be prioritised in the following order:
a. Students with the highest number of UCAS points on entry.
If there are scholarships still available we will then consider applications if:
2. You have £0 household income (as assessed by Student Finance England for full-time English domiciled students or as evidenced to Leeds Trinity for part-time and EU students). These will be prioritised in the following order:
a. Students with the highest number of UCAS points on entry
If there are scholarships still available we will then consider applications if:
3. You have a household income of £0.01 - £24,999 (as assessed by Student Finance England for full-time English domiciled students or as evidenced to Leeds Trinity for part-time and EU students). These will be prioritised in the following order:
a. The lowest household income;
b. Students who are (or have been) a cared for person or a carer;
c. Students with the highest number of UCAS points on entry.You must also meet all the following criteria:
You will not be eligible to apply for a scholarship if you are applying to study a foundation degree course, a 'top-up' course either full or part time, or a postgraduate course. In addition, applicants who are ordinarily resident in (you usually live in) Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales or applicants who are from outside of the EU will not be eligible to apply.
