Graduate Entrepreneurship Programme
The Business Start up services to students and graduates are organised within the Graduate Entrepreneurship programme. This programme supports and promotes Business Start up in Universities across Yorkshire and Humberside. The programme is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rise To - the Enterprise Challenge
What is the challenge?
The challenge is a chance to gain essential skills to equip you for the world of work, whilst promoting a worthwhile cause. Teams choose an organisation or person that deserves recognition. They then run a campaign to promote this cause and get as many people as possible to leave thanks messages on their campaign page on www.thanksto.com. The team is run like a mini business with team members assigned specific roles (Team Leader, PR Officer, Marketing Officer, Market Research Officer, Sponsorship Officer, and Sales Officer). Each role has a personal online training programme which helps to guide the members through their offline campaign.
Benefits Develop entrepreneurial and business skills Get spotted by leading firms looking for young talent Add real experience to your CV Help others and your community Win amazing prizes and opportunities, including unique internships and job offers Network with successful entrepreneurs.
Sponsorship
There is a £250 fee per team to take part in the Challenge. Each team is responsible for ensuring their fees are covered, and finding a sponsor. This may be an individual, business, or the team themselves. We have a page of tips on how to find a sponsor and some companies ready to sponsor teams that fulfil their criteria.
Mentors
Teams are encouraged to find a mentor to help them through the challenge. The mentor should be a business person or entrepreneur. They will have the experience and skills to guide the team where needed. The mentor will meet with the teams 4 times over the six weeks (once a fortnight) for 2 hours each time and provide support via email. We provide tips on how to find a mentor.
Judges
At the end of the 6 week challenge the campaign page will automatically close. The teams’ performances are then judged by a group of distinguished individuals based on how many thanks messages and page views each team managed to get as well as any other achievements. Judges in 2012 include Tim Campbell, Mike Clare, Julie Meyer and Georgia Arnold.
Prizes and Opportunities
Prizes for the winning team and for individuals who have excelled at their role include cash prizes and unique internships. Team prizes are £2000 for the winning team and £1000 for the runner-up team. Inidividual role winners receive a week shadowing a CEO.For more information visit: www.riseto.co.uk
