Which accommodation has internet access? All of our accommodation has internet access, however please note that it is not wifi in the halls of residence (apart from All Saints Court).

What should I bring?
This is very much a personal choice, although there are certain essential items which you will need to bring:
- All bedding – eg duvet and cover, sheets, pillows and pillowslips
- Towels
- Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils – particularly important in self-catering although it may be a good idea to wait until you get here and maybe share some bigger items with other students using the same kitchen. The kitchens in self-catering accommodation are equipped with hobs, microwave, oven, fridge/freezer and waste bins. The kitchens in part-catered accommodation are very basic and will contain either a microwave or a small hob.
- Electrical items – electrical equipment is limited to a maximum of 1600 watts in each bedroom at any one time. Also all electrical equipment must comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations Act 1989, which in effect means that unless they are new and still under guarantee, all items must be tested and certified by an approved electrical contractor before being plugged into the mains supply. The responsibility for this lies with the student. Kettles and toasters may only be used in kitchens and not study bedrooms.
- Irons – may be brought but should be used only with extreme care. Every year we have instances of carpets being damaged by iron burns, and in these cases the student is charged for a replacement carpet (not a happy experience for anyone concerned!) We do provide some ironing boards but can’t guarantee that these will be available.
- Toilet paper! We only provide toilet paper in halls with shared bathrooms, those students with ensuite facilities must provide their own.

What should I not bring?
- Portable heaters – they are a health and safety hazard and reduce temperatures elsewhere in the hall by affecting automatic sensors, so are not permitted
- Portable cooking appliances – again, a health and safety hazard
- Candles, joss sticks, oil lamps etc – anything with a flame is a fire hazard and is not permitted in halls
- Pets or animals – guide dogs would be the only exception and would have to be agreed in advance with the accommodation office
- Weapons – or any item which may be construed as a weapon

Can I bring a television?
Many students do bring a television, but there are no aerial sockets in the rooms. If you decide to bring a TV, you must be aware that you will need to purchase a TV licence.
Only portable TVs with internal batteries are covered by your parents’ licence at your home address. TVs like this are very rare! More information can be obtained at www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/students.jsp

Can I bring my car?
Due to limited availability of car parking on campus, we strongly advise resident students not to bring a vehicle with them.
Leeds Trinity has a Travel Plan in place which is particularly suited to the needs of resident students. Please see the Travel Plan document for details.
We operate a pay and display system for students who do park on the main campus. Details of the car parking policy can be found here.
Trinity Close residents can apply for a parking permit at the Trinity Close car park, at a cost of around £40 for the year, this does not permit you to park on the main campus and is allocated on afirst come first served basis.

Can I live on campus in Years 2, 3 and 4?
Most of our accommodation is reserved for first year students, but it is sometimes possible for continuing students to live in halls, where there are strong pastoral reasons for the request. Please speak to the accommodation office if you have any queries or concerns.

How do international students apply for halls?
We reserve a number of places for first year international students on undergraduate courses, and depending on demand may be able to offer accommodation to other international students. The initial application should be made to the international office, email international@leedstrinity.ac.uk

Can I move out before the end of the contract?
Your contract lasts until the end of the academic year and it is not usually possible to be released from the contract, unless you withdraw from your course at Leeds Trinity. If you decide to withdraw you will be charged for your accommodation until the end of the term in which you hand in your keys and all relevant paperwork.

Do I need to take out personal possessions insurance?
Leeds Trinity has arranged a block personal possessions insurance policy for 2012/13 through a specialist provider, UK & Ireland Insurance Services (Online) Limited, to cover the whole period of your contract for on-campus accommodation. This insurance is not optional and the modest premium is included in the hall fees.
The basic cover for 2012/13 includes desktop, laptop and portable computers, subject to an item limit of £1,500 and a maximum amount payable for these items during the period of insurance of £1,500. It is important to note that laptop and portable computers are only covered if registered with the insurance provider.
Optional extensions are also available direct from the insurance provider. An information leaflet giving full details of the basic cover and optional extensions will be sent out to all applicants for on-campus accommodation.
You can view and download the full policy wording, register your laptop or portable computer, or extend the basic cover by visiting their website www.cover4students.com/blockhalls

What other costs might I incur?
When you are calculating your expected budget don't forget the other things you will need to pay for on-campus such as:
- Car parking - if you bring your car you will need to pay to park it on campus. This will cost you around £10 a week. Resident students are discouraged to bring their cars on campus, as you will be able to walk to all your lectures and Leeds Trinity runs a free shuttle bus that takes you around the local area.
- TV Licence - if you live in halls you will need your own tv licence. You are not covered by your parents licence, the university, or your friends next door! See 'Can I bring a television?' above for more details.
- Personal goods - you will need to buy items such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap (and toilet paper if you have an en-suite bathroom!) etc. How much you spend on these will depend on your own personal preference.
- Crockery/Cutlery - if you are in a self-catered hall, you will need to bring your own pots and pans, cutlery etc.
