Senior Residents help students to settle into life at College, enabling new students to benefit from their knowledge of the College and local area (e.g. who to see, where places are, what to visit etc). Senior Residents provide a reassuring presence to first year students.
Senior Residents can assist students in the settling of disputes, the encouragement of good behaviour and the discouragement of inappropriate behaviour. Senior Residents have the authority to give instructions to students and make requests of other students (e.g. regarding noise levels). In doing this, Senior Residents are acting on behalf of the Hall community as the first, informal level of pastoral care.
Where appropriate, Senior Residents link up with Security and Student Support staff to ensure that students receive appropriate pastoral care.
The names of the Senior Residents recruited for the currentĀ academic year are published on the Student Support internal Intranet site.
Senior Residents report to the Collegeās Student Support department. Students can find out more about the Senior Resident role by contacting Judith Atkinson (AG09, ext 196).
