Samantha Gildea and Juliette Bains, who both completed the postgraduate Print Journalism course in 2010, are competing against each other in the Young Journalist of the Year category.
The two reporters gained the Postgraduate Diploma from Leeds Trinity and also achieved the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualifications. Leeds Trinity’s postgraduate print and magazine courses are both accredited by the NCTJ.
Samantha, who works for the Batley and Birstall News, said:
"The nomination has come a bit of a shock - I’m the only weekly reporter on the list of nominees.”
On completing the year-long postgraduate course, Juliette went to work for the Halifax Courier, but then moved to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Claire Warren from Radio Aire is another former Leeds Trinity postgraduate who has been nominated in the category of Radio Broadcast Journalist of the Year.
The awards will be announced at a ceremony at Northern Ballet, Leeds, on July 18. We wish all three a big GOOD LUCK from all at Leeds Trinity!
