Students Joe Cooper and Mike Muncaster have been employed by the Dewsbury Reporter and Batley News, James Dixon has been employed by Sky Sports and Faye Dobson and Paisley Gilmour have gone to Birmingham based national agency Caters. Jamie Presland has also been offered, and accepted, the job of Sports reporter at The Wakefield Express, and Tom Scargill has been offered a sports job at the Halifax Courier! That means every single student on this year's Print Journalism postgraduate course at Leeds Trinity University has already begun their journalism career.
Joe, 21, said:
"We're all chuffed to bits and so delighted that the work placements organised for us and the grounding we got working in a real newsroom at Trinity has led to employment."
Joe was also awarded the NCTJ student news journalist of the year prize at the Skills Conference in November.
Senior Lecturer in Print Journalism Lisa Bradley said:
"We are very proud of Joe's achievement, but also of every one of our students this year who have, despite a challenged industry, started their careers in print journalism. We wish them all the success in the world."
