This is part of a series of public lectures to be held at Leeds Trinity to celebrate the Second Vatican Council and the New Evangelization.
Mgr Paul Watson is the Director of the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham which has distinguished itself as a leading centre for theology, philosophy and catechesis in conformity with Vatican II and papal teaching. The Institute is playing a major role in preparations for the forthcoming Year of Faith, which begins in October of this year. Mgr Watson will examine how the Catechism, which was published 20 years ago and which is a compendium of the insights of Vatican II, offers us a sure guide to communicating the gospel effectively in a society in which people’s faith has become “tired.” His talk comes at an important moment: the Bishops of England and Wales have just announced that they are preparing a new catechism for our countries and “YouCat,” which was published last year, has become a bestseller among our young people.
These lectures are all free and open to members of the public. The lectures will all be held in the Auditorium at Leeds Trinity University College, Brownberrie Lane, Horsforth, Leeds LS18 5HD.
