University launches poetry anthology for 50th Anniversary

Posted on 23 March 2017

Poets at Leeds Trinity University have launched an anthology to commemorate the institution’s 50th Anniversary.

Inspiring Futures is a collection of poems, full of aspiration and hope for the future, written by staff, students and alumni of Leeds Trinity University.

Professor Paul Hardwick, Programme Leader for Creative Writing and Editor of Inspiring Futures, said:

“When I put out the call for contributions, I left it up to individuals to interpret what ‘inspiring futures’ actually meant to them, and to respond in their own way. As a result, we have an eclectic mix of poems covering desire, defiance, and a small touch of despair, which really showcase the creativity of our writers at Leeds Trinity.”

The collection includes 37 pieces in total; some written by poets who have been widely published internationally, and others for whom this is their first publication.

Professor Margaret A House, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said:

“In 1970, a group of students started the TASC poetry society and published an anthology with contributions from students across the country. As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary and launch our Inspiring Futures anthology, it fills me with pride that we continue to be at the forefront for creative writing; our reputation for producing some of the most highly-rated graduates and our incredible links with publishers, poets and authors across the UK.”

Inspiring Futures can be purchased for £7.99 through Indigo Dreams Publishing.

An event to officially launch the anthology was held at Leeds Trinity University on Wednesday 22 March.
