Sports clubs, sport staff, Trinity Fitness and students from the School of Social and Health Sciences at Leeds Trinity University will have a single-branded sports kit, thanks to a new partnership between the University, Leeds Trinity Students' Union and kit provider, Samurai Sportswear, announced today (6 October 2017).

Aiming to increase the profile of sport at Leeds Trinity – both internally amongst staff and students, and externally in competitions, within the local community and at events – a competitive tender process was undertaken by the University to ensure the most suitable supplier.

Samurai Sportswear specialise in custom made teamwear for universities, schools and sports clubs around the world. They were chosen for their affordable, student-friendly prices, good-quality products, commitment to ethical sourcing, excellent time-management with 98% of deliveries on time in the last five years, and the ability to provide Leeds Trinity with a recognisable brand and design of team and leisure wear.

Carlton Cooke, Head of the School of Social and Health Sciences at Leeds Trinity University, said:

"The University is delighted to have Samurai Sportswear on board as our centralised sports kit provider. It was clear from the tender process they share our commitment to provide a high quality product which is value for money. At Leeds Trinity we are serious about sport and having a consistent, recognisable brand complements our community ethos and can only strengthen our sense of belonging for students and staff."

Work will begin immediately between Samurai Sportswear, the University and the Students Union to discuss design ideas and kit production for both students and staff, with the new kit being phased in over the course of the academic year.

Georgia Wood, Vice-President at LTSU, with responsibility for sports clubs and societies, said:

"The Students' Union are excited about the upcoming venture with the University in developing a unified approach towards kit and leisure wear. We are excited by the opportunities that present themselves for the students, specifically helping to create a sense of belonging to Leeds Trinity University and their sports clubs."

Mike Pells, Sales Director at Samurai Sportswear, added:

"We are delighted to have been chosen as the centralised sports kit provider for Leeds Trinity University. With our shared values and passion for sport, our partnership is certain to be a success. We are looking forward to using our in-house design and production teams to support the University in creating a unique brand of high quality performance teamwear and leisurewear, giving each of the sports teams a consistent brand, whilst bringing them together as a community."
