The England Rugby League Academy men's team will be training at Leeds Trinity University as part of a two-day training camp on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 October.

The camp, which is in preparation for the Academy's test matches in December against the Australian Schoolboys, will include a team run against Leeds Trinity University's men's rugby league team.

Dave Elliott, Head Coach of the academy and National Programmes Manager at England Rugby League, will also be giving a guest lecture and motivational talk to staff and students at the University.

Conor Meese, Performance and Development Programmes Officer at The Rugby Football League and Leeds Trinity alumnus, said: "The Youth National Performance Squad trained at Leeds Trinity earlier in the year and the coaches were really impressed by the whole facility. As an alumnus of the University I knew it would be a great base for the England Academy training camp. The staff have been brilliant in helping to pull everything together, ensuring we have access to all the facilities we require."

The camp is the academy's first of two at the University, with another planned for December.

Sarah Todd, Sports Development Manager at Leeds Trinity University, said: "At Leeds Trinity we are very passionate about sport, so it is great to welcome the England Rugby League Academy to campus. We're also looking forward to seeing some of our students compete against them in a team run."

The England Rugby League Academy's team run against Leeds Trinity's men's Rugby League team on Tuesday 16 October, 4.00pm – 5.00pm on the Leeds Trinity 3G pitch. Dave Elliott will then be speaking from 5.15pm – 6.00pm on the same day. Both activities are free and open to staff, students and anyone with an interest in sport. You can just turn up to watch the match, but please reserve your place for the talk by emailing Sarah Todd.

Leeds Trinity University's £2.2 million sports and fitness centre is home to outstanding professional facilities including rugby and football pitches, AstroTurf pitches, indoor courts, gym, sports hall, fitness suite, outdoor courts, treatment rooms and science laboratories.

The University also has a Talented Athlete Support Package, which helps athletes manage their studies and sports careers by offering additional support to those competing at a high level in the sport.
