Open Event – Postgraduate, PGCE University-led, Foundation and Professional Practice


​​​​​Are you interested in studying at postgraduate level? Do you want to train to become a teacher? Do you want the opportunity to gain a formal qualification while you work?​

If you answered yes to any of the above, book your place at our next Open Event on Wednesday 8 May.

What's happening?
The Open Event is your chance to find out how studying at Leeds Trinity University could help you progress in your career.

We're keeping the event simple – rather than attending talks and presentations, we want to give you the opportunity to chat directly to our lecturers and get your questions answered about the course(s) you're interested in. Find out what courses are (and aren't) involved below.

You'll also be able to chat to representatives from our student finance and support teams, who can give you information about the comprehensive package of support available for all Leeds Trinity students to access.

Drop in anytime between 4.00pm – 7.00pm at Leeds Trinity University, Brownberrie Lane, Horsforth LS18 5HD.

University-led Secondary PGCE courses

We’ve been training teachers for over 50 years, and have an excellent reputation in the region for supportive and successful training. Our University-led courses provide well-structured training programmes with support from both Leeds Trinity University academic staff and school-based tutors. The course combines expert tuition by experienced teachers at university, integrated with supportive placements in school. We offer a wide range of Primary and Secondary University-led PGCE courses, including Business, Modern Foreign Languages and Mathematics. Please note, our Primary PGCE University-led spaces for 2019 entry are now full. However, if you’re interested in joining us in 2020, we’d love to meet you to discuss your options.

Foundation and Top-Up courses

Our Foundation degrees are work-based, higher education qualifications suited to people who support children and families in a wide range of integrated services including social, health care, education, voluntary, probation, charity, young offender, early years, child care and youth services.

Our work-based Top-Up degrees are designed to be undertaken on completion of a Foundation degree or other Level 5 qualification, in an area related to early years care and education and/or the support of children and families. They are ideal preparation for postgraduate training and education and/or a career in leadership in an early years setting or children's centre.

What courses aren't included in the Open Event?

This Open Event won't include information about our undergraduate courses or PGCE SCITT and School Direct.

PGCE SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) – programmes have been designed by the schools in partnership with Leeds Trinity where trainees will complete their teacher training within a school environment.

PGCE School Direct – School Direct partnerships provide opportunities for trainees to work in ​a school environment for most of their training.
