Building understanding of curriculum and powerful curriculum design for Yorkshire schools.
A series of seminars, developed by Leeds Trinity University, to build knowledge and understanding of issues around curriculum design at a whole-school level, and to empower Senior and Curriculum Leaders in schools to take a measured response to the new Ofsted framework when it is finalised.
By focusing on a range of curriculum issues, the seminars will give opportunities for leaders to think more deeply about the coherence, sequencing, and construction of their curricula, as well as how progression is identified and progress assessed.
They will be delivered by nationally-recognised subject experts, supported by a current Lead Ofsted Inspector, and will seek to address common knowledge gaps identified by Ofsted around curriculum, including: the theory of curriculum; the role of knowledge; breaking notions of progression from GCSE; and the potential impact of cognitive science on pedagogy.
The seminars will complement the curriculum sessions which Ofsted say they will be running in the New Year, address the thinking which might underpin effective curriculum reforms and will offer school leaders an opportunity to discuss and refine curriculum plans collaboratively over a period of time.
Light refreshments will be provided.
