Join us for a truly entertaining and anecdotal talk about teachers, children and schools by comedian and author, Dr Gervase Phinn.
The School Inspector Calls
On Wednesday 22 February, alumnus and Life Fellow of Leeds Trinity University Dr Gervase Phinn returns to campus for a public talk entitled 'The School Inspector Calls!'.
The free lecture promises to be light-hearted, engaging and entertaining, as Gervase reflects on his life and work, since graduating from Trinity College in 1970.
He will talk about his experiences as a teacher and OFSTED inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, the wide range of academic books, children's poetry and fiction he has written, and warm-hearted tales of teachers, children and schools.
He describes himself as a comedian, author, poet, broadcaster, lecturer, educational guru, after-dinner speaker and 'born raconteur' (the Guardian), and The Times describes him as a natural storyteller, combining the timing of professional comedian with palpable warmth and the ability to deliver a message that is more than just a series of jokes.
The lecture will be of interest to anyone involved with schools, teaching and children's services – but everyone is welcome to attend.
