Leeds Trinity Theology and Religious Studies Department

Theology and Religious Studies at Leeds Trinity raises ultimate questions about God, transcendence, goodness and the meaning of life. You will learn about different religious approaches to life and worship from texts, history and contemporary societies.

Full-time BA Degrees

We offer three different full-time BA programmes in this subject area: Theology, Religious Studies and -- new from 2013 -- Philosophy, Ethics and Religion. This allows you to take a course of study that best suits your interests and ambitions. All three include historical and modern dimensions, and approaches that encompass sacred texts, ethics and morality, doctrine, belief and practice and social life. At Leeds Trinity, you will put your newfound knowledge to work, gaining practical vocational experience in a related field with our Professional Placements scheme.

Philosophy, Ethics and Religion {New for 2013}
Through the disciplines of philosophy, ethics and religion, you'll engage with fundamental questions about human existence, beliefs and values. Find out more about our degree in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion.

Theology Single Honours Degree
Theology is not afraid to ask the big questions: Does God exist? Can God be known? Who am I? How should I live? What happens after I die? Find our more about our degree in Theology

Religious Studies Single Honours Degree
Religious Studies is the study of religions, that is, people and their religious traditions, thoughts and constructions. Find our more about our degree in Religious Studies.

Part-time Degree in Catholic Studies {New for 2013}
If you are working for or with the Catholic Church, or exploring this possibility, our BA Catholic Studies is designed for parish and schools workers, chaplains, youth and community workers, and candidates for the Diaconate. The programme is built on the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS), which is taught in all the Dioceses. CCRS graduates will be able to progress to a Certificate through a summer school. A Diploma of Higher Education is another 2 years' part-time study and BA (Hons) can be attained within 4 years.
