Leeds Trinity Theology and Religious Studies Department
Theology and Religious Studies at Leeds Trinity raises ultimate questions about God, transcendence, goodness and the meaning of life. You will learn about different religious approaches to life and worship from texts, history and contemporary societies.

BA Degrees

We offer BA programmes in both Theology and Religious Studies, allowing you to take a course of study that best suits your interests and ambitions. Both courses include historical and modern dimensions, and approaches that encompass sacred texts, ethics and morality, doctrine, belief and practice, social life and other areas.

A six 'strand' approach in both courses ensures a variety of subject matter taught at each year level, beginning with introductory materials in Level 1 and progressing through advanced study and independent learning in Level 3. Throughout, a blend of classical as well as modern teaching approaches ensures a robust engagement with your fields of study.

Two Programmes

We have limited availability left on the following courses. Click on the links below to find out more. If you are interested apply as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed.

Theology Single Honours - Theology is a living discipline that informs and guides the ways the Christian faith is understood and lived. Our Single Honours BA in Theology embodies this tradition through study of Christian history, scriptures, doctrines and teachings, ethical debates, relations to other faiths (and particularly Judaism), worship and liturgy, and many other aspects. Find out more about our Theology degree...

Religious Studies Single Honours - Religious Studies embraces the study of religions in a multi-faith world. Our Single Honours BA in Religion explores a variety of world religions in dialogue, together with the social, ethical and historical trends they represent. Find out more about our Religious Studies degree...

A Unique Approach

Students study Theology and Religious Studies because they are interested in the timeless questions raised by these subjects. At Leeds Trinity, we not only provide an educational experience that considers these historical dimensions, but relate Theology and Religious Studies to the issues facing contemporary society. With that in mind, you will put your newfound knowledge to work, gaining practical vocational experience in a related field with our Professional Placements scheme. Additionally, aspiring teachers can study Theology as a special subject within a Primary Education degree, equipping you with the necessary skills to achieve your career ambitions.
