PGC Courses

Our PGC Courses offered at two levels - professional and post-graduate. Everyone studies towards the professional graduate qualification (PGC) to gain QTS but all students may also opt to study two modules and gain a Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCert).

Employment rates for graduates of our PGC programmes are consistently above the national average with ex-students filling teaching posts in every corner of the UK.

The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGC) course is designed in three stages to provide a gradual and supportive induction into teaching:

Stage 1 consists of College-based training which provides a knowledge base on lesson planning, class management and assessment.

Stage 2 is a a 12 week block of full time School-based training in a partnership school.

Stage 3 is the second school placement of 12 weeks, which  enables trainees to experience two different types of schools and so prepares trainees well for starting as a Newly Qualified Teacher the following September.

Throughout both placements trainees are strongly supported by College and School-based tutors. Assessment during College-based training is by coursework and during School-based training by performance.
