The Primary Education degrees offer you the opportunity to study for an Education degree with teacher training, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You would then be fully qualified to teach across the primary age phase.
Primary schools are dynamic and exciting environments, where children's learning needs to be carefully planned and managed. By studying one of our Primary Education degrees, you will have the opportunity to learn and apply practical teaching skills as well as studying children's learning, development, law, behaviour and assessment theory. You will develop as an independent learner and researcher and you will engage in school-based training to apply your knowledge in the workplace.
Having Qualified Teacher Status means that there is no need for you to go on to do a PGCE after completing your undergraduate degree. If you already know that you want a career as a primary school teacher, this is an ideal way to develop your knowledge and skills, balancing practical application with honours degree study.
