Primary Education

Leeds Trinity University provides outstanding courses in Primary Education. We've developed an excellent reputation as the premier provider of teacher training, both regionally and nationally, giving you quality assurance with partnering schools.

Primary Education degrees are competitive, demanding and intense, and require you to engage with subject orientated study - but, they are also rewarding. You'll be fully qualified to teach 5 to 11 years as a Primary Teacher whatever study route you choose with us.  In addition, we provide routes to Early Year Teacher Status for people interested in working with the 0-5 age range.

Undergraduate Programme

Our Primary Education undergraduate programme gives you the opportunity to study for an Education degree with teacher training, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Having Qualified Teacher Status means that there is no need for you to go on to do a PGCE course after completing your undergraduate degree, saving you money and time in the long-term. If you are already committed to a career as a Primary School Teacher, this is a great way to develop your knowledge and skills, balancing practical application with honours degree study.

Primary schools are dynamic and exciting environments, where children's learning needs are carefully planned and managed. You'll have the opportunity to learn and apply practical teaching skills, as well as study children's learning, development, law, behaviour and assessment theory. You'll develop as an independent learner and researcher, and engage in school-based training to apply your knowledge in the workplace.

We provide undergraduate degree courses in:

BA (Single Honours) Primary Education: Early Years (QTS)

You'll learn how experiential, play-based learning supports young children's development, and how as an effective practitioner, you can have a positive impact on that learning. School-Based Placements on this degree cover the age-range from Foundation Stage 1 to the end of Key Stage 1.

BA (Single Honours) Primary Education: Later Years (QTS)

Throughout this degree, you will learn about the impact of effective teaching on a child's educational process, and you'll develop teaching skills informed by theory and subject knowledge. School-Based Placements on this degree cover the age-range 7-11 (Key Stage 2).
